MEET JAVI TERRAZAS

Javier "Javi" Terrazas is a proud Chicano, lifelong Oklahoma City resident, and blue-collar worker who believes it's time for working people to have a stronger voice at City Hall.

​

Born and raised in southwest Oklahoma City, Javi was raised by his young single mother and learned early the value of hard work, responsibility, and perseverance. A graduate of U.S. Grant High School, he and his wife are now raising their daughter in the same community he has always called home.

​

At just 13 years old, Javi began working for Grooms Irrigation, spending his summers digging trenches and laying pipe in Oklahoma's summer heat. His work helped build some of Oklahoma City's most recognizable landmarks, including Scissortail Park, the Paycom Center, the Myriad Botanical Gardens, the Oklahoma City Zoo, the Chesapeake campus, and POPS in Arcadia.

 

Instead of taking the traditional path to college, Javi built a career in the skilled trades. He worked on drilling rigs across West Texas, North Dakota, and Wyoming before returning home to help build roads, bridges, infrastructure, and housing developments throughout Oklahoma.

Javi isn't a career politician. He's spent his life working with his hands, waking up before sunrise for concrete pours, working long days in the Oklahoma heat, and doing whatever it takes to provide for his family.

​

His hands helped build Oklahoma City. Now he's ready to help shape its future.

​

Javi is running for City Council because he believes every neighborhood deserves the same opportunities to thrive. He'll work to attract new businesses to underserved communities, build safer and more walkable neighborhoods, improve public transportation, and invest in practical public safety solutions that strengthen our communities.

For Javi, public service isn't about politics. It's about making sure the people who build Oklahoma City finally have a seat at the table.
